Welcome to the community, grandmamargie06 and decadentdreams03.

Sorry to hear about your surgery, Margie. Decadent Dreams has some great suggestions.

Let me add my support for these two suggestions in particular: 1) ask for help and 2) keep it simple. Everyone will certainly understand your physical limitations after surgery, and I know, also being a woman of that "certain" age, that it's harder to ask for help sometimes than to do it all yourself, but it can be done.

Hi, I read your message. I'm sorry to hear that you have to have surgery. I will say a prayer for you. I know what it is like to have surgery and to be sick it is no fun. I hope you will be feeling well again soon. I have some advice for you. I just so happen to be very good at putting together weddings and event. I am currently working on the preparations for my sister's wedding now. The key is to pick simple tasty recipes that are healthy as well as budget friendly. It is good to choose a variety of finger foods that look pretty. You can choose foods that fit the taste and health needs of your family and friends. I find that it helps to choose a theme for the wedding to help to tie things together easily. For example your theme could be a tropical paradise, a romantic Italian theme or an asian escape. What ever fits the happy couples personal style. A theme will allow you to flow from decoration choices and table escapes to food choices. If you are not having this event catered you can make things a lot easier on your self by making a master list of foods that will be on the menu. Then you can delegate a menu item or 2 to other family members or friends to prepare. Then a few hours before the wedding reception everyone can get together and bring the food and set up everything including the tables. It is best to keep things simple and nice. The more personalized and relaxed of a setting that you can create the better. You can also put together as many things as possible in advance. That way things can be tied together with ease when it is closer to the day of the wedding. Flowers and decorations for the tables can be put together in advance before the big day and easily transported to the reception location. If you haven't picked a location for the ceremony and reception yet that should be one of the first things on your list. It is a good idea to choose a location where both the ceremony and reception can be done. That will make things run smoother and allow more time to set up. It also makes it easier for your guests. If you have already taken care of all of that and sent out invitations. You are about half way done with the preparations. Don't stress or worry it will all come together. The most important thing to remember is not the decorations, food or glitter or glamour of the day. It is the reason for the occasion to celebrate the life and love of the happy couple. After the big day it won't be the food or the wedding preparations that are remembered most it will be the memories and the thought and care that went into it. The couple will look back on that day and remember the day that they started their new life together. So don't spend too much time fussing over all the little stuff that no one will remember any way. Take it easy and take care of yourself. I hope my message helped. Have a great day!
