According to the Mayo clinic, the top 5 foods for lowering cholesterol are oatmeal, walnuts, fish, olive oil, & foods that have been fortified with stanols.

Eating oatmeal is great - so is eating more veggies, such as kidney beans & peas; or fruit such as apples & pears.

Hi,
I had old fasioned oatmeal for breakfast 4-5 days a week and only eat whole grained breads. I lowered my colestrorol 44 points in a year.

I am a fairly healthy 58 yr old, on no medications but have naturally high bad cholesterol (273) and my good cholesterol is very high (93). I would like to lower my bad cholesterol by not going on medication but need to watch my diet and not gain weight. How do I add fiber without adding calories?
