Depending on when the party is there may be some around. Our corn is full grown by mid-July, easy enough to cut some down if you're growing a garden.

Welcome back! Well, I don't think it's the season for it (usually see this around fall after the crops have been cut down), but if you can find it, the bundles of corn stalks are pretty easy and fun decorations too! And so big that a few can really hide a lot.

Hi Gals,
Sorry I haven't responded sooner to your wonderful ideas but was out of town. Certainly will use some of them. If you have anymore ideas for decorating the garage throw them this way. I will certainly appreciate any help. You are just great. Thanks again.

Muslin, berlap, calico, cow print, whatever fabric is the least expensive. You can use a staple gun to attach it to wooden shelves, or sticky backed velcro (if you don't want to just drape it over.) For decorations, why not try the toy department at the local Walmart or Dollar General. Pick up some cap guns, cowboy hats, etc. If you have a "school supply store" or "teacher supply store" in your area, you might find some interesting things there. Use green paper (or large green garbage bags) and twist it to make it thin and 3-D. Then staple it to adrape or the wall, in the shape of a cactus. You can even stick some toothpicks on it for spines. Would you consider putting some small cacti on the windowsills? It may run into a little money, but they would make good party favors too.

There are a few common words like that the fliter picks up. I think you're way around it (to still get a valid point across) was inventive!
For the OP, when is your party and how are the ideas coming together?

hjmans, I think you have solved my mystery. I was trying to post a cake recipe that required you to poke wholes in it, and it would not let me post it. Said the something about the content, and I thought what could possible be wrong with what I am posting. Now I know why. Thanks!
Tiff, Hope you party ideas are coming together well. I

And yes.. I understand that the word 'whole' is not the same as the word "whole without the 'W'." I'm just not allowed to type "whole without the W," so please don't judege!

If you don't care to much about the fabric, you could just quick cut a few wholes about 4 to 6 inches apart, an inch or two below the top of the fabric. Then run a rod through the wholes to make kind of a 'shower curtain.' If you need to have more than one sheet of fabric, string it all up, and then stand behind your new "curtain" and tuck the seams together with safety pins, clothes pins, or even bobby pins. If the top of the curtain looks messy just tuck it back with pins, no one will see behind the curtain anyway, right?

Tiff47; You don't need to sew anything - just drape fabric over the shelves and attach fabric to the walls with thumb tacks.

If you don't have a sewing machine use safety pins to secure the cloth to make sleeve for the dowel or even clothes line or heavy wire. Or if you used clothes line, you could just pin the fabric with wooden clothes pins.

I would use a bandana print to cover the shelves. I would just try to drape it over the items, or run a stitch along the top, leaving an opening big enough to run a dowel rod through (like you were hanging curtains.)
For windows: our Dollar Tree has small decorative hay bales. Put someof those in the windows, and add a few play horses from the dollar tree. Bandana work well here. Horse shoes, used or new ones can be purchased at you local farm store. Any type of rope. Stars are big in western themes as well. I have 3 western rooms in my house.
Your party sounds like fun. What are you serving?

For windows you could do squash, make a cornucopia type thing. If you have a local farm store they might have 'feed bags' they'd give away, you could tuck some of your shelf stuff in those. For the walls hang up some hats? Kraft store might have straw type hats cheap.

You creative gals, thank you so far for your replies....question though...I am not creative and there is mention of fabric. Would you be just draping this fabric from the top down to cover up the storage shelves that contain gardening supplies and junk LOL. Also, any ideas for the windows and walls? Thanks again.

Hit the fabric store and pick up a couple of bolts of western looking fabric. You may be able to find some cowboy type print in the kid clothing fabric area.

Fabric would be the least expensive way to hide the shelves. You can get plain muslin at Joanns or Walmart, and just add a few bandanas to spice it up.
