It's the same as regular yougurt but is a little tangier and is thicker.

I think the sour cream works better for tuna, chicken salad. I don't think it tastes bad but then again I never use mayo. By the time you mix in all the other ingredients, the flavors just seem to blend.

Does that work in pretty much any situation? Like in tuna salad? I wouldn't mind substituting, but I'm worried about taste.

I detest mayo and use sour cream or plain yogurt (greek style is the best) as a substitute.

Thank you for the links. I will repost in the forum you suggested. I never even considered making egg-free mayo. That opens up a lot of possibilities in the future. Thanks again.

There are recipes for creating a mayo-like spread without eggs. Here is one recipe: http://www.toytowngermany.com/lofi/index.php/t30476.html

You might also try reposting your question here for Michele with Kraft Kitchens. She may have some additional suggestions.

I have been holding on to the fish cake issue of Kraft Food and Family magazine for over a year now, dying to make them. I haven't done it yet because my son is allergic to egg and my husband won't eat anything with mayo. What would be a good substitute in this recipe? Here is a link to the recipe. Thanks.
