Don't be afraid to at least try something once. We always make a new recipe one time and then we all discuss how we liked it and if anyone would like to make a change. This way we have a new recipe that we can modify to make it our own. Trust me you will end up liking the recipe better anyway if you can personalize it. My husband and daughter don't like a lot of the little ingredients ie: tomatoes, olives, mushrooms etc... replace with what they do like or leave out and you have a winner. Rule in my house try it once and if you don't like it ok. Hope this helps!

I use cream of's.. interchangeably all the time! Most of the time my family prefers the cream of chix or cream of broccoli anytime! The flavors vary slightly, but it honestly wont matter!! Try it...

Im not sure, but I am afraid to change what the recipe says. I feel that if it calls for cream of mushroom, and not creme of chicken the taste wont be the same. You know what I mean?

Is it the cream of anything soup that he hates or the texture?
If it's just the mushroom, try one of the other soups - cream of chicken or cream of asparagus, for example.

Otherwise, you could substitute a brown gravy or a white sauce.

Another option is to skip it completely. It will give the casserole a completely different texture, but.....

substitution help!

I am in need some help. I LOVE casseroles but my fiancé hates them. He hates cream of mushroom soup and sour cream in the same dish or not and the good dishes have at least both of them in them. If I even put a small amount in a dish he can taste it. Any suggestions for substitutions?
