I agree, the last time I was here was when the veals topic was a hot issue and it ended several friendships. Best to leave it alone.

It wouldn't be V-Day without chocolate. You can find a small chocolate fountain or fondue set for about $20. Get some fruit, plain pound cake, cookies, pretzels and a nice dessert wine or champagne and feed one another by the fireplace. At least that's what my hubby and I do.

The "Veals" topic is a very sensitive issue on this board. I think it's best to drop the whole thing.:_|

I won't eat veals because they keep them in caves so they will be white meat!

veal is tough to begin with. it hasnt matured enough like a good filet mignon. they are raised in crates, but large ones. not caves. they can move around and are fed grain. its just beef peeps. if you eat steak, try veal out. you may like it...

Thanks everyone for their input!
We had a nice bruschetta as an appetizer. For dinner, a lemon garlic pork roast with spinach salad with egg, roma tomato, fresh mozzarella and cucumbers. Very good!
I may be thinking twice about veal in the near future.
I'm not really a baker, but I loved the truffle idea!
Thanks!!!!!

Reuben, I agree with you. Plus, if they are stressed out, their meat will be tuff. I don't want any part of veals.

Ok, just to clear up what veal is for those who don't know. Veal is Cow/Bull Calves. There are three types of veal (type being how they are raised). One, being calves that are killed only days after they are born. The second being calves that were fed grains and milk. The last being where the whole "live in caves" thing probably came from. These are calves that are kept in confinement, traditionally in a small crate so they can barely move and only fed formula. All this information was taken from Wikipidia.org.

I know thats not too helpful when looking for a Valentine's dinner, but thought people should know exactly what they may be eating.

OH, as for party favors I'm not sure if Kraft has any really good recipes for it or not, but on yahoo videos there's a Cheap n' Easy video for home made truffles. It's cheap way to make both a dessert/party gift at the same time. Theres also a recipe there for a "Pink Champange" that's Cheap n' Easy to make. Hope it helps. Here's the link to find it. http://food.yahoo.com/

culleen, please tell me that your joking about veal living in caves. all veal is is young beef cattle. its actually quite good! you should try it...a good veel dish is weinersnitzel. (i hope i spelled that right) its a german dish. couldnt tell you how to make it. maybe someone has a suggestion. all i know is that it is dipped in an egg mixture and then a flour mixture and pan fried and served with a brown gravy. its really yummy!!

I don't eat veal. Someone on this board said that veals live in caves, where it is dark. I don't want any part of that!
