We have made it a tradition since my son was 1 to have a chocolate fondu after dinner. I melt a big pot of chocolate and cut up apples, strawberries, bananas, pound cake, pretzels, marshmallows, rice crispy treats, pretty much anything I can find. Then I just give my son and my husband a skewer and we make a big chocolate mess!

I tried the chocolate covered marshmallow recipe on the Kraft website, except I used graham cracker crumbs instead of chopped nuts (my kids don't like nuts). They tasted like s'mores! Very easy to make with the kids. They love them.

When my kids were little I did "red dinner" for Valentines. They, now 16 and 18 still want it. I make heart shaped meatloaf with Ketchup baked on top. Red mashed potatoes, red heart shaped biscuits, red jello (in a heart shaped bowl), red milk or juice, red sauce for my cauliflower, and red velvet cake in heart shape. Its been a tradition for 17 years now and it makes any guest a bit concerned but its very fun. We even dress in red.

I make pink pancakes (try to make heart shapes by using a large spoon, and dragging batter to a point. I also make pink milk. (with food coloring),
we are going to decorate heart cookies with white or pink frosting and sprinkles.
Of corse the kids all get a small box of chocolates and some other fun stuff.

As far as the rice crispy treats go, I saw strawberry flavored marshmallows (Kraft of course) at the store today. Bet it gives a nice flavor and I'm sure it turns the treats pink. Very cute esp for VDay! You could even use those colored rice crispies that come out every once in a while. Have fun!

My kids like to make plastecine hearts and decorate them. I usually serve pizza while they're working and they totally enjoy it!

My mom made red heart shaped rice krispie treats when I was a child. Now it is a favorite in our home. Make a batch of rice krispie treats and when the margarine and marshmallow have melted add red food dye. Add the rice krispies and spread into a pan. When they are firm, cut them out with a heart shaped cookie cutter. If you don't have a heart shaped cutter, make a heart out of paper and place on the rice krispies. Cut around the paper heart. If you want to get fancy, sprinkle the tops with red sprinkles or pipe a thin line of icing around the edge. This is an easy Valentine that the kids can enjoy helping you make. Enjoy Jill

The cupcakes sound really good. The pops are a great idea too, I actually found a baking sheet for heart shaped pops at Walmart. You could use a simple sugar cookie recipe (or any cookie recipe really) and let the kids decorate with icing and sprinkles. Or you could even turn them into conversation hearts by writing things on them like "Be Mine", "Happy V-Day", etc. Or maybe even better yet you could make one for each of the kids by writing their names and decorating them with hearts or sprinkles. Each of the children would have their own personalized cookie pop. The writing would take a little more time but it'd be neat and if time's not an issue then it might not be a bad idea.

I think I will try that Kraft cupcake recipe b/c that's a good one to give the kids for school. Anyone have any other great ideas or tried any of these other Vday recipes?
