Wow, you all are sooo nice. We don't really *do* Valentines day at my house. You have inspired me to jazz it up a little this year.

We (hubby and 3 girls) are having pork tenderloin(his fav), greenbean casserole(daughter #1's fav), hashbrown casserole(daughter #2's fav) and either the molten choc cakes or raspberry ganache pie from this site. I throw a nice table cloth on the table, set the table complete with placemats that I made (I pick their favorite color and write the things that I love about each one on their place mat.). We all have a name card with their name a picture (drawn or clipart) of a fav.thing. ex: horses, cats,). I throw a handful of those fake rose petals on the table add some candles and we drink our tea, milk, or pink lemonade out of wine glasses. The girls love it. For dessert, we always have some choc fondue with strawberries, bananas, and grapes. I use to turn everyone's food pink or red, but youngest daughter is allergic to red dye. So I have had to stick with everything being heart shaped if possible. Heart shaped meat loaf, pizza, pancakes, sandwiches, brownies, etc.

You could sit on one of those rubber donut rings. I hear they are quite helpful.

Why not ask you D.H. what he would like to have? Or just fix "his" favorite foods, and make a simple dish that your children will eat. If there old enogh, maybe you could make them feel "special and grown up" by letting them set in another room or area by themselves, while you and D.H. set at the table with candle light! . Gee, some won't like this, but "maybe" you could send the children to a babysitters and have the dinner "alone". . I mean "who" are you trying to do something "special" for at the moment? Lots of luck, annaskf

No, actually I can't sit that long either. But that's a whole other story. I think I'll just make the sauteed spinach. Thanks for the suggestion tho.

I'm thinking to make the nut-crusted flounder here at the Kraft site. I just saved it to my favs. I want to make a spinach souffle to go with it, but I have trouble standing long enough to whip egg whites because I'm a little knock-kneed. I may just make sauteed spinach instead. Plain white rice with some lemon and nuts in it would be nice.

I thought some broiled salmon ( w teriyaki glaze) w jasmine rice and veggies (carrot, squash and zucchini cut julliene) and a lemon + capers+dills+cream sauce. And for desert, i'll try a caramel pecan cake w chocolate ganache. And it's not fiction, I would like to come back in two adys and show you the pictures, but don't know if possible to attach any.

How about roasting individual cornish hens with rosemary and olive oil? You can serve them with stuffing and veggies.
